With all of the problems that occur in Detroit, the root to solving the problem begins with the kids growing up. More money needs to be turned away from prisons and reallocate it to the public school system. By having the attention towards the younger age crowd, changes can be made for the future as overtime, the drugs and violence can start to deteriorate. One way in doing so is having kids become better educated. One thing President Obama is trying to pass is free community college. By having kids who have finished high school move onto higher education, they are more likely to find better jobs and move away from the drug business.

  1. I agree with you when you say the root of the problem begins while growing up. I believe that most kids in Detroit grow up in a bad environment which is proven to directly impact them as they grow older. I believe that most of their role models in their life aren't necessarily the best role models and best examples they could have to get the best childhood to eventually become the best adult and citizen that gives back to the united states.

  2. I personally do not know how Obama will be able to pull off free community college. 40% of college students are at a community college. It seems to me that that's a lot of money. It will be interesting to see how this is accomplished.
