The debate on the "Barbie" doll has always frustrated me. I don't see how some people can look at a Barbie and say that it gives children false expectations and insecurities. I, myself, had never looked at a Barbie as a child and thought that I wished I looked like her. No, I played Barbies with my friends because they are DOLLS and nothing more. There are many arguments out there about how if the Barbie doll were an actual person she would not be proportionally correct. Well of course not; she is a childs toy. You don't see anyone criticizing bobble heads saying that they are a false representation of an actual human body! Just because the Barbie doll is a popular toy amongst little girls does not mean there needs to be so much controversy over it. If girls are going anorexic like some articles that I have read say, it is not to be like their Barbie doll... and if it is then there is a parenting flaw and/or an issue with the child, not the Barbie.

I completely agree with this post, Morgan. Your views are the exact same as mine. I have seen that they have made Barbie dolls that are less thin and with shorter necks just because of this controversy. Personally I think that there are people out there who make a big deal out of nothing and it is quite unfortunate. But again, fabulous post.
